2008 Marriage Retreat Testimonials

We had an amazing turn-out this year at the Marriage Retreat! Over 340 couples joined Pastor Miles at the La Quinta Resort & Club the weekend of June 27-29. Many couples were significantly impacted & blessed; here are what some people had to say about what they learned at the retreat and how it impacted them:

For us it was super encouraging to be with such a large number/group of married people; couples on the same page wanting to learn and grow deeper in their relationships.

I felt the Lord was with was and smiling down.

I realized that I should be the wife that Jesus wants me to be and not worry about what my husband is doing or not doing. I am only responsible for my actions. This will help with feelings of resentment.

I think my marriage will benefit from the "Stop, Start, Continue" method for having discussions on sensitive topics. That is a very powerful tool for communication.

I really appreciated having the marriage mentors there; my husband and I took the opportunity to talk with a very sweet mentoring couple. we really needed it and it really helped us. We learned that having a third party can be very beneficial and enlightening.

Even though we have been married 31 years we have so much we can work n to make us a stronger couple. we do have issues that will need a third party and that was encouraging for us who are from the old school though that we can do it alone.

This weekend encouraged us to keep up the fight to keep out the devil when we get discouraged.

I realized that I had been holding onto some fears from my past. Because of these fears I was actually the one who was contributing to the lack of intimacy in our relationship. I hope that by submitting my fears to God, I will be better at submitting, trusting and loving my husband the way that God wants me to. I want a marriage that is honoring to God and a blessing and encouragement to others.
