Pastor Miles and his wife debbie, began the weekend perfectly, sharing how they accept each others differences and in the midst of them, how to have an incredible marriage. Differences are not bad they are just different.
My wife and I look forward to being refreshed and renewed in our marriage relationship. It just gets better and better the longer we’re together. No greater gift from the Lord than to grow older with your best friend. “Live joyfully with the wife whom you love all the days of your... Life.” (Eccl. 9:9)
The best part was getting away from our usual weekend routine (fixing up the house and endless chores), and just spending a relaxing, intimate time together at a beautiful resort, and meeting other Christian couples.
It's rare when a married couple both work that they actually get real down time together. It just don't happen at home. I always enjoy learning about communication in marriage as well. Very beneficial.
We had fun together something we dont do nearly enough! Learning the salsa, going down the soul train line, it was nice just to hang with the one I love and us giving each other our undivided attention.
The theme was Old Shcool, remembering Gods original design for marriage, which is "it is good." My perspective was changed to not view marriage as a long haul, but a fantastic voyage.
Jim Masteller did an incredible job taking us through Ephesians which laid the foundation for the roles and responsiblities for the husband as well as a wife. Its simple, surrender, sacrifice and love, Gods way.
I enjoyed the opportunity and freedom in between sessions for spontaneous loving.
The part that touched me the most and something i hope we do every year, was the re committing ourselves to each other through the reading of wedding vows, I got emotional and thats not me. But it reminded me of the promise i made before my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
