We are so glad that you have chosen to serve here at the Rock Church! When it comes to Worship Arts, the number of participants is not as important as each individual and what they have to offer God. God has given each one of us unique gifts—not to bring glory to ourselves, but to glorify the beautiful name of Jesus Christ, our Great God and Savior! What a privilege…

We value that God created us to live and serve together in harmony, as one unified voice. In the Worship Arts Ministry, we are more than artists. We are family.

Humility-“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus….” Philippians 2:3-5

We value the example of the sacrificial nature of Christ. As He laid His life down for us, we also seek to be humble servants, willing to die to our personal agendas for the greater good of worship and God’s kingdom.

We value that God gave us His best when He gave us His Son. In the Worship Arts Ministry, we are committed to the “church” being known as a place where outstanding art is created for the glory of God.

Faithfulness-“He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.” Luke 16:10

We value that God teaches us obedience and contentment through faithfulness in any circumstance. In the Worship Arts Ministry, we are committed to integrity being demonstrated in even the “small things”: rehearsal attendance, punctuality, prepared music, and prepared hearts.

Spiritual Discipline-“But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.” 1 Corinthians 9:27

We value that God uses spiritual disciplines in our lives to bring us abundant life here on earth. It is through our times in Bible study, prayer, and fellowship that we personally experience God’s love and power at work in our lives.

Requirements:

The Rock Church Worship Arts Ministry is committed to nurturing your gifts and affirming your calling from God. We believe that God has uniquely designed you to serve Him and His people. You matter to God and to us!

With this goal in mind, we require that, prior to serving in the Worship Arts Ministry, you:

• Have and maintain a genuine and personal, born again relationship with Jesus Christ
• Have attended consistently for a minimum of three (3) months and consider the Rock Church to be your home church
• Have considered your personal spiritual growth and church involvement of highest importance and are open to taking the “First Steps” to getting involved at the Rock Church (http://www.therocksandiego.org/firststeps/) or completing Rock Boot Camp
• Are at least 13 years old
• Attend weekly rehearsals, held on Thursday evenings, 6:30 - 8:30 PM in Room 232
• Are able to commit to at least one (1) full year of ministry with the choir
• Are able to sing at all five (5) services, every six weeks
• Complete the application and agree to abide by this covenant
