Starting the Week of January 18th, 2010, the Rock Church will be launching hundreds of DO SOMETHING Small Groups.
This 6 week study will allow the Rock Church to come together and grow in Jesus Christ, while preparing to mobilize for some incredible community outreach at the end of February 2010. My prayer is that you will be able to attend one of our upcoming Facilitator trainings in December.
We will be following Miles McPhersons' DO SOMETHING curriculum. At the end of the 6 weeks, all of our groups will rally together and make a difference by serving together in community service projects.
We're excited to see not only how God will bless our community through these groups, but also how He will bless those who join a group and serve their neighbors! Our goal is to form 350 new Small Groups, which means we are asking God to raise up 350 people to facilitate a Small Group in their home, place of business, coffee house or any public venue.
Our desire is that many will hear the call to continue leading a Rock Small Group after the initial 6 week cooperative effort. There will be a general Facilitator orientation in the first part of December.
All you need is a heart after God, a desire to see people grow in their faith in Jesus Christ and a passion to see your community change with the love of Jesus in Action! So if God is stirring your heart to become a facilitator- simply say YES- to God a to begin an amazing faith trip.
As Pastor Miles shared, being a Facilitator is a great way to serve the Rock Church and the community. You will be tremendously blessed. Though we are asking for a 6 week commitment, we would like for you to prayerfully consider becoming part of our ongoing Small Group ministry to continue to reach this city for Jesus Christ.

Small groups at the Rock exist to help you grow up to full maturity in your relationship with Jesus Christ and others. You may be doing great in your Christian walk right now, but by being in relationship with fellow believers, you will experience even more of the abundant life Jesus has to offer. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says, Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: if one falls down, his friend can help him up. If you are ready to connect with other people, belong to something life-changing, and grow in Christ through relationships with other believers, then maybe it's time to get involved in a small group!
A small group is typically made up of three or more who meet regularly during the week to share about their lives, support one another, pray together, worship God, and study biblical truths. Each group has a host and a leader (or one person may host and lead). Groups meet in a number of different locations around San Diego County, including coffee shops, restaurants, the church, and work places, but typically they meet in homes. Most groups meet weekly during evening hours, but some meet bi-weekly, such as our Moms' Groups, and some meet in the morning or afternoon. Our goal is to accommodate the different needs of those in our church by offering a variety of options.
It is as easy as A,B,C-
Look through our directory and find a group or two that suit your schedule and interests. Then call or email the host or leader to get more information about the group. After you get directions and details, just show up and check it out! You can also sign up for a group online and the leader of the group will contact you shortly. Hopefully, you'll feel right at home with the first group you visit, but you may want to visit several groups before you find the group that's right for you. If you feel a little nervous or unsure, just stick with it - you'll be happy you did! So, will you take the steps to find a small group.
