Message from the Small Group Pastor
Pastor Gary Beneventi - June 22, 2010
I would like to personally thank you for taking the time to visit our website. Here at the Rock Church and within the Small Group ministry, our desire is simple... Everything we put our hands to is intended to draw every individual into a deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ. A Personal Touch ministry endeavoring to provide every Rock Church attendee the opportunity to feel closely connected to the whole and be an integral part of the Church Growth.

Four Benefits that we strive after as we serve the Body:
  1. Have a personal touch
  2. Encouraging Spiritual Growth
  3. Allow individuals to be a part of the whole
  4. Encourage individuals to be part of the growth
My prayer is that you consider joining our team - there are many ways to serve: As a Small Group Leader Facilitator, A coach encouraging the leaders, a Small Group attendee, our prayer ministry-praying for the ministry and those in Small Groups, volunteering here in the office. We want to help you use your gifts God has given to you. You are a blessing to this ministry and together we can literally see thousands of lives transformed and a city that will see God's love in action.

In Christ,
- Gary Beneventi

What are Small Groups?
Small Groups are weekly gatherings in homes and coffee shops throughout San Diego county. They exist to inspire spiritual growth, centered around the Bible, worship, prayer and doing outreach service together.
Why should I attend a Small Group?
The Rock Church is very big. It is easy to get lost and disconnected. Small Groups allow you to connect and enjoy intimate fellowship with others.
How do I find a Small Group?

Frequently Asked Questions

Are all small groups the same?
The Rock Small Groups are as diverse as those that attend on Sundays. The leader/facilitator makes the subject culturally relevant to those in their group. Some groups delve more deeply into weekend messages, some study a book of the Bible, or study topical messages found in Scripture. The basic components you should find in all Rock Small Groups are: prayer, worship, studying biblical principles through the Bible, true biblical fellowship, and serving the needs of our community with a Do Something heart.
Do small groups provide childcare?
A number of small groups do have childcare while others may not. You can check our listing to see what study fits your needs.
Do you have to be a Christian to attend a small group?
No, you do not need to be a Christian to attend a small group. Small groups are a place where Christians and non-Christians alike can explore Jesus and His teachings together. In fact, one of the best places to understand Jesus and Christianity is in small groups.
What if I have never been to church before? Can I still go to a small group?
Absolutely! Small groups are open to everyone.
Do I need to bring anything to small group?
We recommend you bring a Bible, a pen or pencil, and something to write on, but these are not requirements to attend.
Do I have to pray out loud at small group?
The choice is yours. We understand this can be intimidating and we encourage the freedom to decline to pray out loud until you feel comfortable. We know that God hears us when we pray out loud and when we simply pray along "in our hearts" with others, so take as much time as you need.
